Vīlandes 09 living room with warm neutral walls and burgundy accents

The project

A calm interior shaped through tone, material and light.

Vīlandes 09 is a 126.58 m² private apartment in Riga’s historic centre. The design brings together the character of the original building and a contemporary way of living.

Warm neutrals and wood textures form the calm foundation of the interior. The deep burgundy palette is drawn from the wine-toned accent stone selected for the project and becomes a recurring motif throughout the apartment.

Classical mouldings, bespoke joinery and layered lighting create continuity from room to room. Each space is designed as part of one coherent interior — tactile, composed and carefully balanced.

A carefully curated selection of furniture by Minotti and Molteni, together with lighting by Flos, Masiero and CTO Lighting, completes the composition.

Living spaces

Living, dining & kitchen

This open-plan interior brings together the living, dining and kitchen areas within one coherent composition. Warm neutrals form the base, while the selected wine-toned stone establishes the burgundy accent that continues through lacquered details and artwork. Muted green upholstery adds balance and depth.

Softly rounded walls and the curved transition between the walls and ceiling preserve the original character of the space. Oak joinery carries the material language into the kitchen, while the bespoke TV wall conceals generous storage behind a classical panelled composition.

A lacquered console is positioned within the living area, alongside the passage leading towards the private part of the apartment where the bedrooms are located.

Arrival

Entrance hall

The entrance hall introduces the apartment’s palette through warm neutrals, burgundy accents and a graphic black-and-white stone floor. Classical mouldings frame mirrored storage, while sculptural pendant lights draw the eye through the corridor and give the transitional space a clear rhythm and perspective.

Private rooms

Master suite

The master suite is arranged as a calm sequence of bedroom, lounge, two separate dressing rooms and a fully enclosed private bathroom. Together, the spaces form one self-contained and private part of the apartment.

The rounded bay becomes an intimate seating area, echoed in the curved headboard, furniture and lighting. Burgundy accents bring depth to the warm neutral palette, while wood flooring, marble and tactile textiles connect the suite to the rest of the interior.

Separate lighting scenarios support reading, dressing and quiet moments of rest. Two dressing rooms provide clearly organised storage and allow the bedroom itself to remain visually calm.

Master suite

Master bathroom

This fully enclosed bathroom forms part of the master suite. Light stone and warm wood are combined with expressive marble and brushed brass.

A freestanding bathtub by the window forms the centre of the composition, while a transparent glass shower keeps the room open and light-filled. Illuminated niches, concealed storage and bespoke cabinetry maintain visual calm.

Classical cornicing and layered lighting connect the bathroom naturally to the historic character of the apartment.

Workspace

Study

The compact study is organised around bespoke joinery with a warm wood finish. A continuous desk and open shelving create a focused workspace, while the sofa gives the room a more relaxed secondary function.

The pale blue ceiling softens the classical envelope. Burgundy details and curtains connect the study with the wider palette of the apartment, while cream storage fronts keep the composition calm and precise.

Private rooms

Guest bedroom

A guest bedroom where classic details meet contemporary accents. The interior is built around a calm, light palette, complemented by a rich burgundy shade and warm wood tones.

Decorative mouldings continue the visual language of the apartment. Graphic wallpaper introduces rhythm, depth and a subtle, playful note, keeping the space expressive without making it feel overly formal.

Bathroom

Shower room

Warm wood panelling and pale stone create a compact, tactile setting. The bespoke vanity, integrated basin and illuminated mirror are composed as one precise element.

Transparent glass, recessed shelves and soft indirect lighting preserve a sense of openness, while marble and brushed brass give the smaller space the same depth and material richness as the rest of the apartment.
